Plankton Towing Activity by the Lake Superior Reserve
Come join staff and volunteers from the Lake Superior Reserve, from 10am to 2pm, to find out what is happening under the ice in the winter. You can use a specialized net to tow for tiny creatures (plankton) that live in the water under the ice. Once you have collected your sample, use a microscope to inspect what you’ve found. You can also check out some of these creatures on a big screen TV. You’ll learn that there’s a lot more going on under the ice than maybe you thought!
